The Collection Process...
Virgin Remy Hair (Cuticle Hair) is hair that has been collected from a single donor/person. The hair is gathered into a pony tail, tied off and then cut. This method of hair collection keeps all of the hair cuticles flowing in the same direction. What this means is that the hair is still in it natural state.. Virgin Remy Hair depending on the origin, typically comes in darker colors such as a natural 1B/2 as this is the natural hair color of the donor. This hair is tangle free and can last up to 18 months or more depending on how well you maintain the hair. This hair is top of the line and this is as Good as it gets!
Chemically Treated Remy Hair Extensions
Chemically Treated Remy Hair (Cuticle Hair) is hair that has been collected from a single donor/person. The hair is gathered into a pony tail, tied off and then cut. This method of hair collection keeps all of the hairs cuticles flowing in the same direction as explained above thus making it Remy, however this hair does undergoe gentle, chemical processing for color, waves and curls. This hair is tangle free and can last for 12 months or more depending on how well the hair is maintained.
Non- Remy Human Hair
Non-Remy Human Hair is the most abundant human hair on the market and the cheapest. It's also referred to as fallen hair. It is collected from multiple sources, into piles therefore the hairs cuticles are not kept flowing in a unidirectional pattern as with Remy Hair. It cannot be left in this state because it would then be declared as unusable. After the hair is collected, it is then put through a process called an acid bath which destroys the cuticle layer of the hair. Following the Acid Bath, the hair is dipped into a silicone coating to give it a smooth, lustrous shine, healthy feel and appearance. As the silicone layer wears off this hair will eventually start to tangle and will then be in need of severe"restoration services" to bring it back to life.
Non-Remy hair does not have the longevity & durability as Virgin Remy hair. After several washes, the silicone begans to wear off exposing the dry, dull inner layer of the hair (Medulla). Non-Remy hair looks amazing only for a short while. This type of human hair is recommended only if you are looking for a more economic alternative to synthetic hair or lace front wigs. Non-Remy hair can last for 3 to 6 months or more depending on proper maintenance. Non-Remy is often passed off as Remy, since without really knowing your hair, it is hard to tell.
Tip: To determine whether or not your Hair is Authentic, run your fingers from the end of a hair to the root/weft. The Cuticle of hair will feel prickley/rough as you run against the cuticles. Silicone dipped hair will be smooth in both directions.
